i don’t think eating just those is ‘bad’ but i know they like dandi lions the flower too. Maybe slowly introduce him to leafy vegi’s now before all he like is the worms. What a cool pet by the way. Very cool.

  • I don’t think Jell knows what she’s talking about! Not old enough for real food yet? That’s crazy……. The dragon pellets are fine as a snack or in emergency situations, but should not be your dragons main diet.
About the mealworms…not a good choice for beardies. They have a hard outer shell that’s hard to digest and little nutritional value compared to other feeder bugs. Safe bugs are: silkworms, phoenix worms, several types of feeder roaches, horn worms, butter worms, and superworms (when your dragon is at least 16″) Crickets are fine, too. To avoid parasites, just get them from a reputable supplier such as:http://www.reptilefood.com/reptilefood/ This site has the different types of worms as well.
At this age he should have started nibbling on veggies. He’ll show interest eventually, but you have to have the veggies always available to him.
Here is a list of good veggies for your dragon. Experiment until you find something he likes…..http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.co…
Dragons don’t really recognize standing water as something they should drink unless they’ve been trained to do so. He needs his hydration through his veggies, a daily misting, and a bath every few days.

no, dont feedhim veggies yet, go to your local pet store buy some juvenile bearded dragon pellets, your beardie isnt old enough for real food yet feed the pelltes to him soaked in water!! make sure you have a mist bottle to mist him 3-6 times a day in warm water! crickets and meal worms are a big no no!!!!! they carry parasites, and it doesnt matter if you cut the heads off the worms , they still carry parasites! PLease read up if you dont believe me , i am a herpotology major, i know what im talking about do yourself a favor buy the bearded dragon pellets!!

im not a big fan of meal worms because sometimes if they are not fully digested in the stomach they can actualy eat their way out of the beardys body, so if your feeding meal worms you should cut their heads off first, but with the veggies dandelion leaves I agree are their favorite, to introduce him to it you should try putting it in a shallow little bown and cut the greens so they give off the juices and the beardy could smell them not just look at them.. Hope this helps :)
