Is There Such Thing As Eating Too Much Fruits Or Vegetables?

I know they’re healthy, but is it possible to actually gain weight if you’re eating non stop vegetables or fruits even if you’re not hungry?

I imagine if you ate tons of them you could gain some weight. I mean, there is a point of eating too much, regardless of what it is. Also, to keep in mind with your question, is would you be eating completely raw veggies and fruits? Or adding things like butter or sauces to them. That can make a difference. Overall, though, you can survive purely on veggies and fruits (usually called a raw food diet, vegetarian or vegan), however you run the risk of having nutritional deficiencies, so it’s always best to have a doctor monitor how you’re doing, if you’re not sure how to go about starting a purely veggie/fruit diet.
But outside of that, you can eat almost as many plain veggies and fruits as you want, and not really go overboard. It’s when you start adding stuff to it that you run the risk of gaining weight.

  • Yes. Fruit contains lots of sugars, and while they are good for you – try and limit your fruit portions to about 2 per day. As far as veggies go – try and limit potatoes especially and don’t have too much sweet potato and yams. As far as the remainder of the veggies go, enjoy yourself.
