Those results are quite interesting. I think one also needs some vegan protein (beans, tofu...) in their diet in addition to whole grains. I think a lot of the food in our culture is unhealthy, even a lot of the stuff that claims to be healthy. For a comparison, you should ask the student(s) who got the 64 what their diets are.
I thought this was going to be another, "If I only eat fruits and vegetables for a week is that healthy? Will I lose weight?" question.

Eating only fruits and vegetables is healthy, but only to a certain degree. Your bones need sufficient calcium to be strong, and fruits and veggies do not provide this. You need to drink some sort of milk, or eat milk-based products in order to receive enough calcium. You DO need protein to keep your muscles functioning properly, however, it depends on where you're getting that protein from. Red meats are delicious, however, they aren't healthy choices. They should be a once in a while treat, but not something you have all the time. Other meats like chicken, turkey, and fish are very healthy. Fish is particularly healthy because it provides protein with little fat, AND fish like salmon contain Omega 3's, which have been proven to greatly improve brain function. There are also Omega 3 fish oil capsules you can take which are almost as good. Either way, you still need your protein and your calcium. Society may be out to get us in some ways, but it is a fact that a well-balanced diet is completely necessary.
